BuurtApp: The Dutch App for Neighbors
BuurtApp is a free social and communication app developed by Buurtcontact.nl BV for Android users. The app allows you to easily connect with your neighbors and build a strong community. After a quick registration, you can see who lives nearby and exchange messages with them. The app aims to help you secure your neighborhood, lend a hand, ask for something to share, or launch an initiative in the area.
Although similar to the US app Nextdoor, BuurtApp has some clear differences. The app allows you to pinpoint your neighborhood on a map, and the data is stored on a secure server in the Netherlands. Privacy is a top priority, and the app only uses first names and does not upload your contact information. You can easily browse five levels of your neighborhood, from your home (50 m), street, neighborhood, and municipality.
